We are most interested to learn of your nutritional request. Please be advised that the minimal quantity of alcohol in the Jus Rol Chilled Puff Sheet is added to the dough to maintain the shelf-life of the product. We would like to assure you that the percentage of alcohol present in this product is very low (approximately 1%), with the majority of the alcohol evaporating during cooking. Alternatively, you could use our Jus Rol Frozen Puff sheets or our All Butter range which currently do not contain any alcohol.
Please be aware that all our products are subject to reformulation at any given time. Consequently, we would recommend that you always check the ingredient lists on the packs of all our products prior to purchase to determine product content.

If Ethanol is listed as an added ingredient in Jus Rol pastry than it would be considered Haram.

Remember that alcohol does remain even with it being heated as you would have read in many of our other articles we have posted on this website. We hope this answers question on if Jus Role Pastry Halal or Haram.

  1. I’m afraid I don’t agree with your verdict. The consumpption of khamar is haram in islam and not alcohol. Not all alcohol is khamar.

    From my understanding, if an item contains alcohol for the purpose of being a carrier, rather than for flavouring, it is permissible for consumption.

    If something that contains alcohol is consumed in large quantities and does NOT intoxicate, then it is allowed in small quantities. For example, cosuming 20 packs of jus-rol pastries would not intoxicate, therefore, consuming it in small quantities is permissible.

    Likewise, if wine is added to steak for flavouring, it would be haram because it is being added for taste and not acting as a carrier.

    it is not Halal due to the alcohol content

  4. I never imagined pastry would contain alcohol and had been happily using the the Jus-Rol brand until my dear mother asked me to check the ingredients. I have however found the Asda and Tesco own brand are alcohol free

    Yes that is correct, some supermarket versions are fine.
