Said the Prophet (Salla’Allahu alaihi wa’sallam) : “Whenever you eat fruit, eat melon, because it is the fruit of Paradise and contains a thousand blessings and a thousand mercies. The eating of it cures every diseases. None of your women who are pregnant and eat of watermelon will fail to produce offspring who are good in countenance and good in character.” The Prophet (Salla’Allahu alaihi wa’sallam) took melons with fresh dates.
Watermelon had a special place in the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) life and was something he ate regularly. He recommended it especially to pregnant women: “None of your women who are pregnant and eat watermelon will fail to produce offspring who are good in countenance and good in character.”. It was also narrated from the Prophet (peace be upon him) “No pregnant woman eats watermelon with cheese, except that her newborn child becomes beautiful and of a nice figure.”12

‘A’isha said the Prophet used to eat melon with fresh dates. Tirmidhi transmitted it. Abu Dawud added that he used to say, “The heat of the one is broken by the coolness of the other, and the coolness of the one by the heat of the other.” Tirmidhi
The Science: Watermelon is one of the healthiest fruits to exist and is a fantastic snack for all pregnant women. Not only do they have a high water content, which is great in combating dehydration, it also contains natural fruit sugars which can help to alleviate morning sickness. Another fun fact, watermelon contains a high amount of lycopene, an antioxidant, which can help to reduce the risk of preeclampsia by up to 50%.
