McDonalds McFlurrys is it Halal; McDonald’s McFlurry’s – Halal or Haram?
Our View some are Halal and some are Haram as below based on the FAQ section on the UK McDonald’s Website; their answer is the following:
“Thank you for your question. The Dairy Milk McFlurry and the Crunchie McFlurry contain no animal products, apart from milk.
They have also been certified as suitable for vegetarians by the Vegetarian Society.
BUT
The Smartie McFlurry is not suitable for vegetarians as the whey products used in Smarties may contain traces of animal rennet.”
Further update currently we have a list from September of the common Mcflurry they have in the UK

Maltesers McFlurry
Smarties McFlurry (this one they have confirmed regarding animal rennet within it)
Galaxy Chocolate McFlurry
Galaxy Salted Chocolate McFlurry which like others they include sometimes.

What type of alcohol is used to extract the carrageenan used in McFlurry®?
Carrageenan is used as a stabiliser in ice cream and can be extracted using alcohol. In the past, we did use alcohol during this process, but can now confirm that this method is no longer used. The only exception is Cadbury’s Crunchie McFlurry®, where alcohol is sprayed on the Cadbury’s Crunchie pieces at the very start of the process. However, this is at an extremely low level of 0.062% and, during the process, some of this alcohol evaporates. All other ice cream items are alcohol-free.
