Is Eating Squid Haram in the Hanafi School?
According to the Hanafi school, the only sea creatures that are permissible to eat are fish (samak). Squid are not fish, and are therefore disliked (makruh) and sinful to eat.
There is disagreement on this between the legal schools though, as some of the other schools deem all creatures in the sea to be permissible and lawful to eat.
