Halal or Haram investigate Peachy Keens in Manchester!
PK’s don’t advertise anywhere on the website that they serve Halal Food but if you are to call the Restaurant and enquire they will tell you that everything is Halal apart from the Pork and some Deserts which have Alcohol in them.
The Venue
They have a bear / wine bar also serving alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. Signage only visible to show what has alcohol in and what does not

The Meeting
When visiting PK’s same again no Halal signage to be seen but when you ask the staff they confirm they do serve Halal meat. From further discussions they explained the reason for no signage was as they did not want to put off those people who did not like eating blessed meat. So in some aspects some deception going on here!
Where does the meat come from?
Manager provided me with a copy of the Halal certificate which showed Dean Halal Food Limited. From our research they do not have any website or contact details at all apart from the details on the certificate. From further research checking HMC and HFA and other sites we found no record of them. We cross checked the address and found the company to be registered under AL Halal Quality Meats who are HMC registered. We rang the number and questioned the person on the phone but he for some reason is not very helpful in giving any information at all who represented Al Halal Quality Meats.
We ring Dean Halal Food Limited, with the limited English the person was helpful to some extent. He assured us that meats were slaughtered in accordance with Islamic Law. He doesn’t know who is manager is and also was unable to provide any contact for the man in charge!
Our conclusion?
The meat seems to be HMC registered but the Abbotair is using different names with possibly the reason being in relation to tax’s. But the venue has alchol serving bar which it runs and also has pork servings.
The rest Allah ﷻ knows best and we leave the decision to yourself if you want to visit them or not based on research we have carried out.
