A pioneering beauty shop offering halal cosmetics is opening in Birmingham tomorrow.
Pure Halal Beauty is the brainchild of 20-year-old Rose Brown, a vegetarian and follower of ethical issues.
Rose searched the world for suitable products and has collected a range from Malaysia, United States, Holland and the UK that cater for men and women to sell in her shop.
She said: “I wanted to use beauty products and cosmetics but was not prepared to compromise anymore by using products that I knew to be unethical.
“Halal certification ensures the ingredients used in the products are free from all animal ingredients and testing.” The shop is on the lower ground level of the Pavilions shopping centre.
Its ethical beauty products and cosmetics are free of animal products and alcohol and are all Halal certified. Earlier this year a Birmingham mother-of-five launched one of the world’s first brands of halal makeup after fears she could be praying while wearing ingredients forbidden to Muslims.
When looking for halal makeup Samina Akhter, of Hall Green, was surprised to find hardly any existed so spent two years setting up the company, Samina Pure Mineral Makeup.
With help from support organisations such as Business Link, the former saleswoman was able to research the market, create the products, chose colours and find factories who could manufacture the products to the level she wanted.
Samina gained hundreds of customers and took orders from across the globe in a matter of months.
She said: “My aim is to give women an alternative to animal, alcohol and chemical laden products.
“I’m passionate about pure and natural beauty products and with the Halal Accreditation it guarantees purity.”
