Distribution of Aqeeqah meat

Aqeeqah is a Mustahab act which is practiced at the birth of a child.

The Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam has said,”a child is pledged to its Aqeeqah which is sacrificed on behalf of the child on the seventh day when it is given a name and the hair is shaved off its head.
(Sunan An Nasai, Hadeeth 4220)

It is preferable to divide the Aqeeqah meat into three parts.
One third for oneself and family, one third for friends and relatives and one third be distributed as charity for the poor and needy.
Aqeeqah meat can be given to Muslims and Non-muslims alike.
