Question put to McDonalds: Hi, I am a Muslim and I would like to ask a question about your Filet-O-Fish sandwiches. As a Muslim I can eat fish (as it is regarded as Halal) and my question is: Are the Filet-O-Fish sandwiches cooked in 100% Vegetable Oil or is the same oil also used to cook other animal meat (for example chicken)? Your help in answering this question will be very appreciated. Thanks.
Response from McDonalds: Thanks for your question. None of our food is certified as Halal. Our Filet-o-Fish patty is cooked separately from meat items in 100% vegetable oil. However, due to the design of the oil filtration system there is a small chance the oil used to cook these patties can become in contact with oil used to cook meat products during the oil filtering process. We therefore cannot guarantee cross-contamination will not occur, but have taken measures to minimise the amount of any cross-contamination.

Hi, from my knowledge they contain beer

  7. Iv spoken in depth with a manager of Mcdonalds

There are 3 types of fryers.

    1.non halal products
    2. Fish, and various types of cheese bites
    3.chips only.

They filter the non halal products and the fish, cheese bites
    In the same filter
Then uses the same oil to fry the products again in their own fryers

This means both oils are contaminated with eachother which makes the fish and cheese bite products haram for Muslims to eat.

The chips on the other hand are only for the chips and the filter for the chips only filter the oil that cooks the chips, making the chips halal(the manager stated that this is for all Mcdonalds branches.

He mentioned that The haloumi bites bave geletine in them ,which doesnt make a difference for us Muslims as the haloumi bites are cooked in contaminated oil.

Hi, due to cross contamination we would not say it is Halal. For clarification on fish you will need to contact them directly.
